From 1 October, travellers from 60 visa-free countries will need an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority). Passengers who attempt to travel without an NZeTA from now onwards will be denied boarding. This change only applies to passport holders from countries that do not currently require a visa to travel to New Zealand. Current South African passport holders require a visa. NZeTA only takes 5 minutes to fill out the application. Processing time can be as little as 10 minutes or up to 72 hours, so be sure to submit your request at least a few days before you travel to New Zealand.

How do people from Qatar apply for an ETA to New Zealand?

The process of NZETA application is quite straightforward. Some documents are required for application. Some are available to tourists. The list of documents is as follows:

  • Passport (genuine and attested with a validity of at least six months)
  • When filling out the application form, you will be asked to enter your travel dates (arrival and departure). This is mandatory.
  • Email address: Applicants will be asked for a valid email address as the ETA will be digitally sent to this email ID during the analysis and acceptance of the application. Hence, it is advisable to take it in paper form when traveling.
  • Payment: Candidates must have an online payment option. Be it a credit card, debit card, or PayPal.

You'll also need to show International Visitor Protection (IVL) and tourist taxes. It serves the country's infrastructure development and environmental protection. This document is submitted only once in 2 years. One should fill out forms and upload documents with extreme care. Any kind of inconsistency or false/fake information may result in a delay or cancellation of the form.

How early should I apply for the Qatar NZeTA?

Since the NZeTA travel authorization lasts for 2 years for some journeys, we recommend that you apply immediately after booking your flight to Qatar. If your application is rejected, you still have plenty of time to apply for another visa at the embassy. In most cases, NZeTA approval takes only a few minutes and up to 72 hours. So, if you apply on time, you don't have to worry anymore.

NZeTA Visa Requirements

To apply for an NZeTA for residents of Qatar, several requirements must be met. The passport used for application must be valid for at least 3 months after the date of intended departure from New Zealand. Round trip or onward tickets must be booked before departure. You must also be able to prove that you have sufficient financial means to pay for your entire stay. Work in New Zealand is not permitted under any circumstances, even if it is unpaid volunteer work. Even if you are eligible to travel on the NZeTA, this does not include actual work. Finally, you may not be sentenced to 5 years or more in prison. If you have been sentenced to 12 months or more in prison in the last 10 years, you are also not eligible for the NZeTA.
