No. You cannot take up employment in New Zealand on an NZeTA. The NZeTA is a visitor authority intended for tourism, visiting family and friends, business meetings, conferences, transit and cruise travel — not for paid work.
You may attend to certain business activities such as meetings, negotiations or a short conference on an NZeTA, but performing a job for a New Zealand employer, or any work that would normally require a work visa, is not permitted. If your purpose is to work, you must apply for the appropriate New Zealand work visa through Immigration New Zealand before you travel; the requirements and processing times are different from the NZeTA. Attempting to work on a visitor authority can lead to your removal and future travel being refused. If you are unsure whether your planned activities count as work, contact us before you apply.
