A New Zealand eTA is valid for up to 2 years from the date it is approved, or until your passport expires, whichever happens first. That single approval can be used for multiple trips throughout the period, so you do not need to apply again each time you travel.
This makes the NZeTA very convenient: if you visit New Zealand and fall in love with its scenery and culture, you can plan a return trip within the next two years without submitting a new application. Keep in mind the stay limits that still apply — up to 90 days per visit (6 months for UK citizens) and no more than 6 months in any 12-month period. When your NZeTA does expire, or if you renew your passport in the meantime, simply apply for a new one before you next travel.
